Five Burt Lancaster Films That Everyone Should See

27 10 2009

Burt Lancaster has been in a lot of great movies, my personal favorites are listen below:

Burt Lancaster

From Here to Eternity (1953) Sgt. Milton Warden. A masterpiece that uses the beauty of Lancaster to full effect. His acting is flawless, and personally I find him to be one sexy human being.

Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) Dr. Ernst Janning. An amazing cast, led by Spencer Tracy, with Richard Widmark, Montgomery Clift, Marlene Deitrich, Maximillian Schell and even William Shatner.

The Train (1964) Labiche. Watching Lancaster and Paul Scofield grapple over stolen paintings during WWII is sublime for fans of film.

Elmer Gantry (Lancaster) and Sister Sharon Falconer (Simmons)

Elmer Gantry (1960) As the title character. Lancaster plays a salesman and hustler who is attracted to preaching as a way to make a fine living. Lancaster is mesmerizing as he uses his powers as a salesman, but under the tents as a revival, to put the fear of God in one town after the next. With Gene Simmons as Sister Sharon Falconer, another magnificent actor.
Atlantic City (1980) Lou Pascal. The sort of complex, emotionally mature film that isn’t made often enough. Susan Sarandon plays opposite Lancaster.
